31 Day Challenge: Day 5 - Blue

31 Day Challenge
Day 5:
Blue Nails

So this design was inspired by the wallpaper in Andy's room (Toy Story) I used various sized dotting tools, and just a light blue pastel by Sally Hansen from her Insta Dry Line.

So, uh, my dog wanted to get in the picture.... :D Say hello to Lizi the Yorkshire Terrier :)

Hope you liked it!! :)

31 Day Challenge: Day 4 - Green

31 Day Challenge
Day 4:
Green Nails

So I know that really close up, this nature-inspired manicure looks ugly, but I think from far away it looks pretty cool :) I would never wear it just on a regular day, but it was fun just for the purpose of experimenting. :) It's definitely not my favourite manicure, but it was much different than the other manicures that I do, and I thought it would be cool to try out a more "chaotic-style" manicure.

These are the tools and polishes that I used :) I forgot to include the makeup sponge that I used to put the other polishes on.

This is the colour I used for the base:

I hope you liked this design!! Byeee!! <3

31 Day Challenge: Day 3 - Yellow

31 Day Challenge
Day 3:
Yellow Nails

So I took like a billion pictures of this, but I wasn't sure which one was the best :D

Products used: brushes from bornprettystore.com, dotting tools from bornprettystore.com, Lightening by Sally Hansen, Midnight in NY by Sally Hansen, White On by Sally Hansen, and Disco Ball by Sally Hansen.

As you can tell, it's inspired by bees <3

On my ring finger here, I did a little bee, with white and glitter wings, and then I did a super thin glitter french tip, even though I cut my nails down to the bottom (so there's technically no white part of my nail there to do a french on...)

I hope you liked it, and I'll be back tomorrow with my Green inspired manicure for the 30 day challenge :D Would anyone want a tutorial on this on youtube? It's super easy! :D Comments are open, even if you don't have an account :)

Sensationail Gel Nails

I FINALLY GOT MY STARTER KIT!!!! :D

So I realize throughout all my posts I've mentioned this, I've never actually told you what it is!
For those of you who don't know what a gel manicure is, it's basically a regular manicure with a different process, and it stays on for almost 3 weeks!! I got my kit by this awesome company called "Sensationail" which I purchased at CVS (on vacation!)

The process pretty much is, you prep your nails normally (buff, file, cuticle care)
Then you use a lint-free wipe and a special gel cleanser (which comes in the kit) to get all the yuck off of your nails. You use a gel primer (which is really liquid-y) and you brush it on with a tiny brush. Then you let it air dry for 15 seconds. Then you use a special base coat (make sure NOT to get any of it anywhere else than your nail), and cure it in this special LED light for 30 seconds, which hardens it instantly. Do NOT touch your nails during any of this. Then do one thin coat of any brand's colour gel polish. I chose coral sunset (also by sensationail) cure it for 1 minute, then another coat and another 1 minute cure. Then apply the special gel topcoat and cure it for 30 seconds. Wipe again with the gel cleanser, and you're finished!! :D

I found the entire process really easy, and awesome!! This picture is after four days! Still shiny, still un-chipped, still great! I picked off a nail or two in stress and re-did them, but they were perfect before!! What I'm trying to say is that there were no chips at any point! All damages were inflicted by ME!! There is no way thought that you can damage the middle of your nail in any way, I picked it off from the sides. I would also avoid textured walls. I accidentally ran a nail into a textured wall, and it left a little dull spot, but it kind of... disappeared? IDK how it happened but... it's good I guess! :D I had some trouble doing my opposite hand, but it turned out okay! :)

Overall, I was really happy with how it turned out!! I would totally recommend it!! :D If you want more information, definitely visit their website!! They have some really nice colours as well :)

31 Day Challenge: Day 2 - Orange

31 Day Challenge
Day 2:
Orange Nails

So for this manicure, I used a Kiss Nail Art Pen, a white acrylic paint, and the polish by Joe called "Crush Orange" I bought it at superstore. I kind of forgot to film it... So unfortunately you guys will have to wait almost two weeks for the video tutorial :( (because I'm going to California, and will be wearing a gel manicure) But I do have another video I will be posting about my basic manicure prep and process! :)

For the video it will be called Monarch Butterfly Nail Art tutorial, because after I did them I realized that I couldn't call them orange nails :D I hope you like them!!! :)

bornprettystore.com REVIEW! :)

Today I received my first order from bornprettystore.com! I bought this pack of dotting tools, and a pack of brushes.

I think with tax they were about $8. Also, they have FREE shipping!!! :) I live in Canada, and this is a RARE thing to find for me :) They also have a wide variety of products, which is great as well.

They said the order would come in 8-16 days (I'm pretty sure) but that is not including non-business days. Including business days, my order came in 13 days. So it actually came in basically 8 days with NO harm to the contents, except for a slight dent in one brush (which doesn't matter to me, it works fine!) :) I am very happy, and I will definitely be buying more stuff from there!!

PS: I am filming a video today!!! ;)

GREAT NEWS!!!! :)

I've...

**DRUMROLL PLEASE**

STOPPED BITING MY NAILS!!! :) And it's all thanks to my ring! When I feel like biting my nails, I twirl my ring to keep my hands busy. I seriously didn't think I would ever stop biting my nails, but TADA!! And with my strength and growth problems, I'm soaking my nails in olive oil. With that and stopping biting my nails, I'm seeing major improvement!! :)

I can't wait to get my gel nail kit, I'm so excited!! I'm going to write a review on here, and then the second time I do it, I'll make a video. I'm also kind of nervous, because I heard if you get the polish on your cuticle and harden it by accident, it's like impossible to get off without removing the whole nail. :( One of my favourite Youtubers, Mr. Kate, did a tutorial, so here is the link:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QdPlQSnFOXY

Anyways, I am planning 4 videos soon!!! ;) So watch out, and subscribe if you haven't already!! Love you all!!

Fake Nails?

So... I've literally tried EVERYTHING for my nails, and it's not just that I bite them, they break by themselves too!! I've tried olive oil, 5 different strengtheners, 3 different growth products, regular manicures, filling, and I also take REALLY good care of my cuticles :(

And NOTHING helps :( Soon I will be getting the Sensationail gel kit, and that should help me stop biting them, but if that doesn't work, I am seriously considering fake nails.

I know they wreck your nails, and are horrible to take off. I know this because I wore them once when I was younger for a day before I realized they were way too long. I have no idea how my friend keeps her natural nails perfect while also sometimes wearing fake nails. (It was her idea)

Anyways, if I do decide to wear fake nails, I would probably never take them off. Please reply and tell me what you think I should do!! You can reply even if you don't have an account :)

31 Day Challenge: Day 1 - Red

31 Day Challenge
Day 1:
Red Nails

I really enjoyed this challenge, because I have a brand new red Orly polish that I wanted to try out anyways :D I thought a whole hand of a super short (ugly!!) french manicure (which by the way I used an Art Deco striper in gold for) would look weird, so on my ring finger I used a red and my other gold striper to make a weaved pattern. Here it is:

The picture didn't turn out very well (it looked like pink!!) so I photoshopped it a bit... But I'm working on making a lighting box, and figuring out the settings on my camera.

Since I last blogged, I've soaked my nails in olive oil twice for ten minutes each time. It didn't work as fast as I hoped, but it's going to take time either way! :) I just want to clarify though, it IS WORKING. I did this design before I started on the olive oil, so that's why they're so short! But overall, I would recommend using it :D

Okay, I'll blog again in a couple days with my orange nails! Kisses! <3

31 Day Challenge!

Hey!! So I'm sorry I didn't post a swatch, but I've decided to keep my nails natural for maybe... 3 ish days? I'm doing this so I can soak them in olive oil and rubbing lemon on them to get them stronger and longer. (I hear it works, don't judge me) But THEN I'll be doing a...

*DRUMROLL PLEASE*

31 DAY CHALLENGE! :)
Okay so maybe it wasn't a surprise or anything, you know, judging by the title :D I got it from the page Polish Art Addiction, and I think she did a really good job so, here it is:
I'm SO excited, and I hope you like it when I post them!

Design tomorrow, and why my nails hate me

Ah-soooooo I was gonna do LMFAO nails this week but er... It's just not happening... Sorry :( But tomorrow I will post a pic of some design (probably someone else's) :D

OH also my nails are just like "LOOOOL WE'RE GONNA BE CRAPPY FOR YOU FOR ETERNITY!!!!!!!!! WE HATE YOU!!!!!!!"
.......
Okay so that's an exaggeration, but I'm gonna start putting olive oil on them which will hopefully help... But for now they are all on a super short (like literally) time out right now until they decide they wanna be good. So tomorrow expect some ugly short nails. That are actually really creepy if you stare at them a long time.

Elegant Nail Art - Monsieur

So today I did these really cute "Elegant Nail Art - Monsieur" (did I even spell that right? IDK) So it's just a cute little monocle, and a little moustache! I only did it on my ring finger, but you can do it on whatever finger(s) you want. I'll post a swatch of the base colour I used some time soon...

So you just start with a little circle...
And then I used this "Kiss Nail Artist" pen to draw a little moustache and finish the monocle. I'm on the fence about this pen, because after it's been on for like 10 minutes it kind of cracks a little... O__o is that normal? Or, like, I'm not really sure :D
This is just the tip of it, you can see it's pretty small.
I bought this moustache themed gift for my friend, and the chick at the counter gave me two free moustache erasers, so I kept one and gave her the other, but I don't really want to use it because it's TOO CUTE.

OPI Barre My Soul Swatch

I'm totally in love with this sweet OPI natural pink tone, Barre My Soul!! It's from their NYC Ballet collection, and I got it on clearance at London Drugs for $6 about a week ago. In this picture, it's the first try shaping my nails square (ish) and I think that's how I'm going to wear my nails from now on :) I'm working on growing them out and stronger, but it's not going too well... :/ If anyone has suggestions for how to make them healthier, please tell me!! :D
